Patient Portal

Edison Medical Associates offers its patients an opportunity to enroll in patient portal offered by our EHR service provider

The key features of the portal are

  • Schedule/ Request appointment with our office
  • Request appropriate medication re-fill
  • Receive Copy of Laboratory results (after review and follow up with the doctor)
  • Your medical history summary

We hope more and more of our patients will enroll making it easier for communication between our office and you In the interest of security and to keep the link confidential, we will not be providing the link the Patient Portal in the website. If you are interested, please call our office. Following are the steps

  • We will provide the portal agreement by email or when you visit our office
  • Complete and sign the patient portal consent agreement
  • Provide/Update your email id for our records
  • An email with the link will be sent with the instructions to follow to complete your registration

Please note the following

Patient Portal is

  • NOT a replacement to doctor visit; nor an internet based triage or treatment center. Patient Portal does not replace your scheduled visit to the doctor and treatment will be rendered based on patient visit to the doctor.
  • NOT for Emergency services. Any medical emergency condition should be treated by appropriate Urgent Care or Emergency Department.
  • NOT for refill request for narcotic pain medications
  • NOT a vehicle to request medication for conditions not treated by the office currently
  • NOT a communication vehicle for medical diagnosis or treatment

Technical Infrastructure

We run our EMR software in a private network in a cloud environment. Our Patient data is stored within our practice database. The patient portal is run in partnership with our EMR provider and is HIPAA compliant with high level encryption that exceeds the HIPAA standards.

We believe our IT infrastructure and date are safe and secure; however, like any other site that can be compromised in today’s cyber vandalism, we have to follow the discipline to protect the data.

  • Do not access the patient portal in an environment where you are not confident of the security of the network; use the site only from your home or work location
  • Don’t share password or details with anyone
  • Use a complex password that you will remember and is not something easily breakable

In other words, treat patient portal like any other online access like email, banking and so on

All new and established patients have signed HIPAA agreement form and have been given a copy of our HIPAA policy.
